Linda van der Knaap – aids counselor
for the Netherlands, introduced the LOVE.check game at two
schools in Jachie, Ashanti Regio, Ghana. Adults and children
discussed the pictures and had a lot of questions. In absence
of the adults, the children dared to ask some particular questions
like: is it true that you get hiv because women have sex with
dogs? Taboos among the adults are still legio, what makes
the discussion difficult but certainly very useful.
Lieneke Frederiks wrote she had found the
LOVE.check game on Internet and immediately became enthusiastic.
She wants to take the games to Ghana where she will use them
in a program on health education in the countryside. She is
planning to stay there for 6 months as a volunteer.
