Caroline Schaap an active former boardmember
of the WEB.foundation went to Namibia and reported ‘Aids
is a huge problem in Namibia, 20% of the people is infected
and there are many aids orphans. The government brings a lot
of information on radio and tv, such as ‘Know your rights,
know your status’. In many clinics people can get tested
on hiv, and medicines for infected people are available. But
there remain taboos, and schools are not allowed to distribute
condoms, however children of 9 and 10 years old like to ‘play
a sex game’. Older kids misuse the younger ones by telling
them having sex has nothing to do with getting infected, only
kissing has. Girls become pregnant by ignorance and in the
streets you see many girls having one child. They wait many
years after, before deciding to marry and have more children.
The LOVE.check game was very warmly welcomed and is used in
many groups.
I am looking forward going back to Namibia to help them’.
